Clermont Police to Host Its First Public Safety Youth Academy
CLERMONT (March 20, 2019) – The Clermont Police Department (CPD) will host its first Public Safety Youth Academy in June.
The program will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 10-14 at Clermont Police Department Headquarters, 3600 S. U.S. Highway 27. CPD is seeking youth who are Clermont residents in grades 8 through 11. Applicants must also possess a minimum grade point average of 2.5, provide a positive recommendation from a member of their school’s teaching staff, and express an interest in law enforcement, as well as a commitment to completing the academy.
Participants will gain an understanding of law enforcement and experience what it is like to be a law enforcement officer in the City of Clermont. Participants will learn aspects of law enforcement and take part in exercises involving crime scene investigations, evidence collection, defensive tactics, special response teams, the judicial process and much more.
To apply, qualified youth must complete a short application, along with a letter of recommendation, and submit all signed paperwork to the Clermont Police Department before
