Trails
Clermont's hills and lakes make for a memorable, picturesque experience that has gained statewide attention. In fact, the City of Clermont earned the distinction of being a designated Trail Town by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Greenways & Trails System in 2018. Clermont also has been nationally certified as a Runner-Friendly and Bicycle-Friendly Community and was named Florida’s Bicycle-Friendly Community of the Year.
Located at the halfway point of the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail, Clermont's South Lake Trail offers a variety of attractive amenities for trail users, including restrooms, shade, benches, information kiosks, way finding signs, water fountains and showers. An impressive selection of lodging, restaurants and shops are also reachable via the trail.
Points of interest include the National Training Center, South Lake Hospital, Special Olympics Florida campus via the Hancock Extension Trail, as well as Lake Sumter State College and the Cooper Memorial Library.

Through the City of Clermont's award-winning Master Plan, many enhancements are being made to our trail system, including Legacy Loop Trail, Meet Us in the Middle Plaza and the Clermont Wi-Fi Trail.
- Legacy Loop Trail: This added trail connectivity aims to activate people into place and economic opportunity by providing safe and comfortable trail access into the downtown core from the South Lake Trail. As part of Phase 2 of the Downtown-Waterfront Master Plan, Legacy Loop Trail is planned to be completed by 2020. It will connect back through Victory Pointe, an award-winning stormwater filtration system, park and event space.
- Meet Us in the Middle Plaza: This gathering place will hallmark the midpoint of the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail, connecting the east and west coasts of Florida in a celebratory fashion intentionally designed as a one-of-kind trailhead and park experience.
- Clermont Wi-Fi Trail: To allow open access to the City of Clermont fiber, we will offer free-Wi-Fi for wayfinding throughout the downtown and South Lake Trail. The Wi-Fi is live in limited locations and is estimated to be completed by the end of 2019.
