Vacation Rental Information

Looking to turn a home into a short-term rental?

An application is required for each short-term rental unit. Vacation rentals are permitted for non-occupied, whole-house single-family and duplex units located within Clermont city limits.

Required documents include:

Anyone who has partnered with Airbnb, VRBO, or any other business that manages your rentals will not need an account with the Lake County Tax Collector. If you are managing your own rentals, please visit https://laketax.com/tourist-development-tax/

When submitting the Vacation Rental application along with the required documents, a building permit application for the Life Safety inspection is also required for each unit. The building permit application is located here: https://www.clermontfl.gov/DocumentCenter/View/123/Building-Permit-Application-2020-PDF.  Please fill out the Property Information portion and Project Information.  In the Describe the work to be done section, put Life Safety inspection. We can notarize the application here if needed.

A Business Tax Receipt for your short-term rental business is required. Application is located here: https://www.clermontfl.gov/DocumentCenter/View/203/Local-Business-Tax-Receipt-Application-PDF?bidId=.  The fee for Business Tax Receipt is based on number of bedrooms which is $3 per bedroom.

Please provide an exterior and interior sketch of the vacation rental. The Interior needs to show all rooms (labeled), any stairs, locations of the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, location of fire extinguishers, and exit signage/lighting.

Once these items are submitted along with a $375 payment for the vacation rental fee and fee for Business Tax Receipt ($3 per bedroom), you will be able to call to schedule the life safety inspection.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL VACATION RENTALS MUST BE RENEWED ALONG WITH YOUR BUSINESS TAX RECEIPT BY SEPTEMBER 30TH OF EACH YEAR.
