Employment Opportunities

Welcome! It is exciting that you are interested in seeking employment with the City of Clermont. The City offers employees competitive wages, comprehensive benefits and wellness opportunities, as well as other valuable employee programs, training and a safe working environment.

The City of Clermont is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and does not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race or color, gender or sexual orientation, religion or creed, pregnancy, national origin or ancestry, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, genetic information or any characteristic protected by law. The city conducts an Equal Employment Opportunity Plan (EEOP) analysis every two years because it is the city's goal to have a qualified workforce, which as closely as possible, represents the available area workforce and encourages all under-represented classes to apply for vacancies. For a copy of the city's most recent EEOP, email Human Resources or call at 352-241-7380.

In compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity guidelines and the Americans with Disabilities Act, the city provides reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities and encourages both prospective and current employees to discuss potential accommodations.

Veterans' preference is extended per State Statute 295. Supporting documentation (e.g., DD214 or Veterans Affairs Letter of Disability) must accompany the application for employment.

The city reserves the right to update the minimum qualifications of a position and close a position prior to the initially posted closing date.

A high school diploma or GED is a minimum requirement for all city positions. In some cases, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of higher educational requirements.

Selected applicants receiving a conditional offer of employment will be subject to a background check. Dependent upon the nature of the position, a driving record review, drug screening and medical examination may also be conducted. Candidates selected for law enforcement related positions will require additional screenings to be arranged by the police department.

Effective January 1, 2021, the City of Clermont participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with all new hire form I-9 information to confirm authorization to work in the United States. If E-Verify cannot confirm that a new hire is authorized to work, this employer is required to give written instructions and an opportunity to contact the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or Social Security Administration (SSA) so the new hire can begin to resolve the issue before the employer can take any action against them, including terminating their employment. Employers can only use E-Verify once a job offer is accepted and the form I-9 is completed. For more information on E-Verify, or if it is believed that this employer has violated its E-Verify responsibilities, please contact DHS at 888-897-7781 or visit their website at www.dhs.gov/e-verify.

New employees must enroll in direct deposit of payroll checks.

Application for employment may be submitted online through NEOGOV or completed at the Human Resources office at City Hall, 685 W Montrose Street in Downtown Clermont.

The city only accepts applications for open and advertised positions. Resumes will be accepted but not in lieu of the city's application. An incomplete application may be rejected.

Copies of licenses, degrees or transcripts, certifications according to the minimum qualifications for the position, and any other documents related to applying for employment may be uploaded and attached.

Individuals needing assistance in accessing the application process may contact Human Resources at 352-241-7380.
